It’s been way too long since I communicated with you here, 19 months to be exact and man oh man has a lot happened since. To briefly catch up, I moved one last time ending what I hope is a series of 5 moves in 2 years, 9 months. A record I don’t ever want to repeat.

Just before I moved, I injured my elbow on an organizing job and it took 7 months to fully heal and while I was busy with getting settled in my new home and being treated with physical therapy, the Covid-19 pandemic began. What a wild time it has been.

My business survived the 3 months shut down by pivoting to virtual organizing which was surprisingly effective for the clients who gave it a try. When the world opened up, again I began sub-contracting with other professional organizers to assist me so that my elbow could continue to heal and that addition is here to stay. We get so much more done, in so much less time, saving our clients money and allowing us to help more people. Plus we have so much fun and are able to take on much bigger projects. It is a win-win.

Last year, I began offering monthly organizing challenges to the members of my private Facebook group, Winnow Today.

I started this group many years ago for anyone that had come to one of my many presentations as a way for them to stay in touch with me and continue to receive ideas and inspiration to keep going. I love to encourage women on their own organizing journeys and this group has allowed me to do that.

So far we’ve completed many challenges with great success! These are the most recent.

January: Do it or Dump It Project Organizing Challenge (Goal: Complete 3 projects before the end of the month.)

February: Bust Out Your Basement Organizing Challenge (Goal: Declutter and organize the storage areas of your basement)

March: Knock Out Your Kitchen Organizing Challenge (Goal: Declutter and organize your kitchen for ease of use and enjoyment.)

The first challenge was free for everyone in the group. Then members insisted on paying for them saying that the value was so high it didn’t seem fair not to pay. Who was I to argue?

Here is what group members had to say!

“Val I want to thank you for this challenge! It’s been a fun process. Turning what was way too overwhelming to even get started at, I’m now feeling “under control “ of! This has been a project that has been heavy on my mind for years yet I never found the time or motivation to get started. Even though I’m not finished I can see it coming together and I have a completion date in sight!”

“This is the first time my husband has joined in on a challenge and he has stayed dedicated to the process - and we have stayed upbeat and mutually supportive! We have very different styles, preferences, speeds, feelings about clutter and memorabilia and collections and organizing...you get the picture. This feels like the biggest win of all.”

“I may not be posting anything but I am so happy to be in this group. I am making so much progress and doing one project a day and feeling accomplished. Thank you!”

“This is an inspirational group. We get things done here!”
